Carolina Claesson

Artist statement:

The joy of art for me is the lack of knowig what will come of it, what it will become and what it will look like. The process of creating is what sparks my interest rather than the process of planing, I want to be surprised by the result.

The seriosity around art has step by step dissapeared for me. If I get the chance to do something without a commision, I want it to be for the joy of making and let the result be from that moment of creating, exploring material and technique. living in the moment of just my hands working makes my mind relax.

Name of art work:

Extended Family

Thoughts about the art work:

Who are we? Is it just a coincidence that we become the ones we are in this world? I didn`t have a clue what family members were going to be created from my hands in this project - whriting this, I still dont know. But I´m curious to see how they will turn out.

Describe the process; who, what, why, where, when, how and with what help:

While I didn´t wanted to decide the looks of the family members from start I choose elektroforming as the main technique in this project. Becouse thats a technique not totally decided by me and I can step by step let the creatures grow, develope and change until I thinks they are ready to join the rest of the family.
